About Us

Matthew J. Cox TIFIRE MIFSM                                   NAFRAR FRACS

Company Director

I’m Matthew Cox the Company Director of Ignis Safety Limited, an independent company providing bespoke Fire Safety services throughout the UK.

Following a twenty year career in the public sector I have worked in partnership with the Fire Authority and developed a main interest in all aspects of Fire Safety.

During this period I have carried out thousands of Fire Risk Assessments and been involved in major projects including the BAFSA Sprinkler trial at Callow Mount, Sheffield; the first such project to retrofit sprinklers to a tenanted tower block. I have made recommendations, managed and implemented safety improvements in many high value capital projects to tower blocks and other sleeping accommodation.

On 1 October 2006 there was a major change in UK Fire Safety legislation with the

Introduction of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. This requires the

‘Responsible person’ in virtually all workplaces to adopt a self-assessment approach to fire safety in the work place.

The change stipulates that you MUST have a valid Fire Risk Assessment. The Fire Certificates issued under previous regulations, usually by the Fire Service, no longer exist. Enforcing Authorities are now carrying out inspections of premises and non-compliance can result in an unlimited fine to the owner of the premises, prohibition of the building and in the worst case scenario, owners, directors and managing agents could face imprisonment and/or personal prosecutions. You are also at risk of invalidating your insurance cover.

We currently provide our services throughout the UK to Local Authorities, independent organisations and schools and we particularly specialise in Fire Risk Assessments to educational premises and sleeping accommodation.

We guarantee to offer an exemplary standard of work at a very competitive price. If you require any further information or a free no obligation quote for your premises, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.

You and your company may financially benefit from a detailed fire risk assessment, so that you are only spending on necessities to comply with current legislation.

We offer a completely independent and impartial service as we do not supply or fit any fire safety equipment that may be recommended during our assessments. You can be rest assured that any expenditure we recommend is essential and not for profit.

Testimonials

Luxure Aesthetics:

"I own a small business premises that required a fire risk assessment. Having recently opened the business I was recommended to use Ignis Safety to do this. I am thoroughly pleased with the service that I have received. From the initial contact, through the inspection, to the detailed action plan I was given afterwards - were all 5*.

Ignis Safety were extremely professional and they explained everything (even the little details) and I felt fully informed. I was pleased that a date was set promptly to complete the inspection as I worried I may have to wait a while but this was not the case. I was very impressed, so much so that I will be having them back soon to complete my evacuation plan. Highly recommended. Thank you" - March 2018
